In a busy world, it is easy to lose touch with our center. These simple daily reminders grew out of counselling conversations. They are simple reminders to help us stay grounded, compassionate, and intentional in our daily life.

They’re not rules or to-do’s, but touchpoints to return to when we find ourselves struggling. They can be good reminders towards continued growth and development. They are intended to encourage and strengthen as we seek to live life well.

🌸 Self-Compassion & Permission

  • I’m allowed to ask for help.

  • Being self-sufficient doesn’t mean doing it alone.

  • I can put myself into the equation.

  • I’m allowed to have emotions.

  • I don’t have to push myself further each time — I can do what feels doable in the moment.

  • When I feel like I’ve let myself down, I can offer myself non-judgemental acceptance and observation.

🌱 Awareness & Growth

  • I can listen to myself and to my body.

  • I get to decide where I go and what I do next.

  • Any decision I make can be reassessed and changed if it doesn’t turn out as expected.

  • I can acknowledge that the patterns I find myself caught in were once survival strategies that tried to keep me safe — I’m allowed to create newer, healthier ones.

  • When old patterns aren’t serving me well, I can do something different.

  • Change starts with awareness, continues with intentionality, and proceeds with practice.

🤍 Relationships & Boundaries

  • Relationships matter to me.

  • Friendships energize me when they are healthy and balanced.

  • I don’t have to be everyone’s emotional support human.

  • I can be respectful without being appeasing.

  • I do not have to engage in every conversation or argument to which I am invited.

  • I don't have to rely on my assumptions. I can ask clarifying questions to understand.

  • If someone is upset, that’s about them, not about me.

🌾 Inner Strength & Belonging

  • I matter.

  • When things don’t work out as I anticipated, I can evaluate compassionately by noticing what worked and what didn’t.

  • Whatever is going on in life, I will get through it, even if I don’t see the how yet.

  • When I feel triggered, I can use my skills of curious observation rather than self-judgement.

  • When things come up that feel very young, I can talk to my little self with kindness and validation.

🌼 Joy, Curiosity & Presence

  • Seeing close friends fills up my cup.

  • Getting out and walking is where I feel myself.

  • Art and creativity can inspire me.

  • “What would I be doing if I weren’t afraid?”

  • I’m allowed to spend time on myself — it makes me more present for others.

✨ Mindset Reminder

I get to take care of myself — not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of living well.

Questions to Ponder

  1. Which of the reminders do you need most?

  2. How can you keep yourself in the equation?

  3. What patterns in your life are no longer serving you well?

  4. In which areas of life can you invite more self-compassion and non-judgemental understanding?

  5. What would you be doing if you weren't held back by fear?

I acknowledge that my work takes place on the traditional, unceded, and ancestral territories of the Stó:lō people — including the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), qw̓ɑ:nƛ̓ə̓n̓ (Kwantlen), Mathxwí (Matsqui), Semá:th (Sumas), Leq’á:mel, and Semiahmoo First Nations — and I am grateful to live and work on these lands.
