Unified and Authentic: Why Connection Doesn't Require Us To Feel The Same Way

We often talk about authenticity and connection, but rarely about the process behind them.

What I’ve been reflecting on lately is this:

We don’t all experience emotion the same way.

Some feel it in the body first.

Some think their way into it.

Some see it as imagery or metaphor.

Understanding this changes how we communicate, collaborate, and connect.

It also changes what we expect from others.

I acknowledge that my work takes place on the traditional, unceded, and ancestral territories of the Stó:lō people — including the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), qw̓ɑ:nƛ̓ə̓n̓ (Kwantlen), Mathxwí (Matsqui), Semá:th (Sumas), Leq’á:mel, and Semiahmoo First Nations — and I am grateful to live and work on these lands.
